March 17, 2009 - At the request of Mayor Bryan Baptiste - iconic Monkeypod trees - Ohana to Koloa Town for over 100 years, were saved and moved to new homes to make way for today. Sponsors adopted the trees, agreeing to prune, transport and care for the legendary Monkeypods. Two of the trees are visible from Poipu Road in a 26-acre park setting gifted to the County of Kaua'i.
